The National Rifle Association has received a lot of attention from the media the last few years. Unfortunately, some of the population does not understand what exactly the NRA believes in and stands for. NRA is an organization that is committed to training, education and marksmanship with over 125,000 certified NRA instructors. They now train over 1,000,000 gun owners a year. The courses are available from basic rifle to ammunition reloading. They not only train on firearms safety, they are also heavily involved with the community, club benefits, NRA club awards program, club connection magazine and above all, responsibility.
The state of Wisconsin offers an NRA basic gun class which would be your first step in learning the basics of pistol shooting. Each NRA instructor has received all the formal and official NRA training needed along with their certifications. The NRA certified instructors teach an 8 hour NRA Basic Pistol Class which is split between classroom and shooting range practice. This NRA pistol course will teach you all you need to know in order to carry your firearm safely and responsibly. The course includes the following:
The NRA pistol class also involves live shooting practice at the firing range. You will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. If you have any questions or need assistance, your instructors will be there to guide you. Once you have passed your shooting exam, you will receive the NRA Guide which will provide you the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook and your course completion certificate. The certificate will include the signature of the NRA Secretary and the name of your NRA Certified instructor. You will then have the privilege and right to carry your firearm, whether it be on hip or in your home.
You can't learn properly on your own, only a certified NRA instructor can guide and teach you the fundamentals, proper gun selection, shooting errors, gun safety and proper storage that comes with ownership. Who better to learn from but a certified NRA instructor? They have all the knowledge needed to instruct you on everything required regarding gun ownership, safety and storage of your firearm.
There is no better satisfaction than knowing that you have the privilege to carry and use your firearm with confidence and knowledge. Taking the course gives you the right to legally bear arms. You may decide that carrying it on your person is not for you. If that turns out to be the case, the course has taught you how to handle it safely, responsibly and respectfully. It takes a day of your time and your knowledge could possibly save your life or the life of another. As long as you are a responsible gun owner, it's quite the privilege.
NRA or National Rifle Association, basic pistol classes are available to help you better understand how to use your handgun for personal protection or in times of need. In the course, you will learn the basics to operating a pistol, safety standards you must follow with using one, how to choose ammunition for it, and the different shooting angles or positions that increase range and accuracy. Since pistols can often be misused, it is important to know the basic rules if you plan on using one for concealed carry.
Learning About Your Gun
In order to build a trusting relationship with your gun, you need to know how it works, how it was built, and how to maintain it. In this course, which is taught by a licensed NRA instructor, we’ll give you the history of the pistol, its current construct, and how to clean it and use it over time. These fundamentals are crucial if you want to use your gun for important situations, as you need the right knowledge and training to do so. Learning about your gun is the first and most important step to operating a gun in general, especially one that you might be carrying out in public.
Safety training is included in the basic pistol class because we want clients to know how to efficiently use their guns for safety at all times. We don’t want clients having their guns go off accidentally while in their bag, nor do we want clients carelessly storing them while in public places. Safety training is not only for your own safety, but for the safety of others so the gun does not cause any accidents or fall in the wrong hands of others who are unaware or untrustworthy when it comes to using it.
Usage For Protection
During this course, you’ll learn the dos and don’ts of using a pistol for protection. This includes positions that you should be shooting at, how to hold the gun, what kind of ammunition or angles provides the most effective results and accuracy, and what other moves you can make if you’re being threatened physically and need to use the gun. In order to use the gun for your protection, you’ll need to know where and how to carry it for accessibility in a crisis or when the attacker is acting quickly.
Finally, gun maintenance is an important step if you want your gun to last long term. It’s vital that your gun is cleaned properly after every use, whether you’re practicing with it at the shooting range or you’ve had to recently use it for a necessary situation. Guns are an investment and when you invest in one, you do so with the intention of being able to use it more than once. Therefore, cleaning your gun and maintaining it over time will help ensure that it’s ready to use for lasting results and can be used at any time that you may need it for protection.
